Finca Alcatraz
Finca Alcatraz
Grown on the steep volcanic slopes of Finca Alcatraz in Oporapa, Huila, this coffee reflects both the richness of its terroir and the meticulous craft of its producer, Wilfredo Ule Vargas. At 1,750 meters above sea level, the farm’s cool, cloud-covered microclimate slows cherry maturation, resulting in a cup that is layered, sweet, and expressive of place.
Wilfredo cultivates classic Colombian varieties like Caturra and Bourbons, alongside rare gems such as Geisha and Chiroso. Processing is primarily washed, with occasional natural and carefully managed anaerobic fermentations—all designed to highlight the inherent character of each variety rather than overshadow it. Drying takes place on raised, covered beds, where Wilfredo’s attention to detail ensures clarity and consistency in every lot.
Expect a cup that embodies Huila’s reputation as Colombia’s premier coffee-growing region: orange pekoe, pink grapefruit, and lemon zest notes, complemented by the nuance that only high-elevation, small-scale production can deliver. This is a coffee that balances tradition and innovation, born from a producer dedicated to both his craft and his community.
