About

We're so happy you're here!

  • Portebleue is a small-batch roaster based on the top floor of a century-old triplex in Montréal, Québec.

  • Tanner Gooding, owner and head roaster at Portebleue, is Winnipeg born and raised. When he moved to Montréal in 2015, he fell in love with the city’s vibrant and ever-evolving café culture.

  • Portebleue aims to source sustainable coffee of the highest quality and highlight the incredible work done by coffee producers around the world.

About our Process

  • All coffee at Portebleue is meticulously curated and roasted to order. When selecting the coffee, we work with importers to short-list high-quality green from producers with sustainable farming methods and ethical trade practices. We then conduct a number of sample roasts to better understand the flavour notes of each coffee and highlight the best attributes in each. From this short-list, Tanner selects the most interesting coffees to feature on the Portebleue website and provide to partnering coffee shops and customers. Each Portebleue bag is roasted to order on an Aillio Bullet. Every roast is followed closely to ensure consistency and quality.
