Representing the next generation of the Hoyos Alvarado coffee legacy in San Agustín, 22-year-old Stiven Hoyos turned a pivotal moment after high school into a lifelong commitment to specialty coffee. Encouraged by his father, Don Rodrigo, Stiven took charge of a small plot on the family farm, planting and successfully bringing 800 Red Caturra trees into production—a milestone that grounded his pride in carrying on the family tradition. Now an active member of the Monkaaba collective of young producers, Stiven champions rural life and specialty coffee as a vibrant path forward, viewing international collaboration as a vital source of recognition and hope for young farmers.
